Groß's 2026/27 season, read from the numbers
In 2026/27, P. Groß was used in rotation for Brighton in the Premier League: 5 appearances and 450 minutes, averaging 90 minutes per outing. His standout number is key passes — 15, 95th of 978 midfielders and inside the top 10%.
Per 90 minutes that is 3.0 key passes per 90, 0.6 assists per 90 and 2.2 ball recoveries per 90 — the rate profile behind Groß's totals. Groß played 319 passes at 89% accuracy — 63.8 per 90, which is the volume that decides whether a side builds through him or around him.
The profile is lopsided rather than complete: measured against midfielders, Groß sits in the top 5% for shot conversion but only the top 37% for goalscoring. Set against Groß's own record, 2026/27 reads differently: he has managed 9 in a season before, so 4 is well short of his own mark; he is playing far less than he once did — 808 minutes against 3245 at his peak; his average match rating has risen from 7.05 to 7.47 since 2025/26.
Our records cover 12 seasons of Groß's career, 2015/16 to 2026/27, across 3 clubs — FC Ingolstadt 04, Brighton, Borussia Dortmund. In that time he has played 426 matches across 10 competitions, 33,358 minutes in all. His best return on our records was 13 assists in 2023/24, from 50 appearances. He is 8 appearances into the current one.
Groß has 26 appearances in UEFA Europa League, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa Conference League on our records, and he is modestly more productive domestically - 0.13 per 90 domestically against 0.10 in Europe. Groß has reached 8 assists in a season 5 times, between 2017/18 and 2024/25 — a level held rather than found once.
Away from his club, Groß has 10 appearances for Germany on our records — across World Cup - Qualification Europe, Euro Championship and UEFA Nations League. On our positional score Groß rates 29 out of 100, 80th of 326 qualified players — inside the top 25%. Relative to what each component is worth, his strongest is tackles and interceptions.
How these scores are built, and the minutes and rating floors a player must clear to appear on our boards, are set out in our methodology.
