V. Gyökeres

Gyökeres's 2026/27 season, read from the numbers

In 2026/27, V. Gyökeres saw limited action for Arsenal in the League Cup: 1 appearance and 90 minutes, averaging 90 minutes per outing. Across our top-five-league attackers pool, the number that flatters him most is match rating — 28th of 45 attackers and inside the top 62%.

The profile is lopsided rather than complete: measured against top-five-league attackers, Gyökeres sits in the top 4% for goalscoring but only the top 60% for tackling volume. Set against Gyökeres's own record, 2026/27 reads differently: he has managed 68 in a season before, so 5 is well short of his own mark; he is playing far less than he once did — 889 minutes against 4394 at his peak; his average match rating has risen from 6.60 to 7.18 since 2025/26.

Our records cover 4 seasons of Gyökeres's career, 2018/19 to 2026/27, across 4 clubs — Brighton, Coventry, Swansea, Arsenal. How these scores are built, and the minutes and rating floors a player must clear to appear on our boards, are set out in our methodology.
