Bensebaïni's 2026/27 season, read from the numbers
In 2026/27, R. Bensebaïni saw limited action for Borussia Dortmund in the Super Cup: 1 appearance and 81 minutes, averaging 81 minutes per outing. Across our top-five-league defenders pool, his standout number is match rating — 10th of 905 defenders and inside the top 1%.
The profile is lopsided rather than complete: measured against top-five-league defenders, Bensebaïni sits in the top 1% for goalscoring but only the top 40% for tackling volume. Set against Bensebaïni's own record, 2026/27 reads differently: he is playing far less than he once did — 552 minutes against 2485 at his peak; his average match rating has slipped from 7.44 to 7.02 since 2025/26.
Our records cover 12 seasons of Bensebaïni's career, 2015/16 to 2026/27, across 5 clubs — Montpellier, Rennes, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and others. In that time he has played 357 matches across 10 competitions, 26,672 minutes in all. His best season on our records was 2025/26, when he averaged 7.28 across 43 appearances.

He has also finished runner-up 2 times, the nearest miss a UEFA Champions League final. Our ranking boards cover Europe's top five leagues rather than the competition above; on those, Bensebaïni rates 59 out of 100, 11th of 304 qualified players — inside the top 4%. Relative to what each component is worth, his strongest is interceptions.
How these scores are built, and the minutes and rating floors a player must clear to appear on our boards, are set out in our methodology.
