David de Gea

Gea's 2026/27 season, read from the numbers

In 2026/27, David de Gea was used in rotation for Fiorentina in the Serie A: 5 appearances and 455 minutes, averaging 91 minutes per outing. The number that flatters him most is match rating — 100th of 198 goalkeepers and inside the top 51%.

Per 90 minutes that is 2.8 saves per 90, 2.4 goals conceded per 90 and a 54% save rate — the rate profile behind Gea's totals. The profile is lopsided rather than complete: measured against goalkeepers, Gea sits in the top 29% for chance creation but only the top 84% for tackling volume.

Set against Gea's own record, 2026/27 reads differently: he is playing far less than he once did — 635 minutes against 3427 at his peak; his average match rating has slipped from 6.99 to 6.61 since 2025/26.
