Borja Sainz

Sainz's 2020/21 season, read from the numbers

In 2020/21, Borja Sainz was used in rotation for Alaves in the La Liga: 21 appearances and 454 minutes, averaging 22 minutes per outing. Per 90 minutes that is 0.2 goals per 90, 1.2 shots per 90 and 67% of his shots on target — the rate profile behind Sainz's totals.

Our records cover 2 seasons of Sainz's career, 2019/20 to 2020/21, all of it at Alaves. In that time he has played 43 matches across 2 competitions, 1,254 minutes in all. Treat these rates carefully. At 454 minutes — roughly 5 full matches — Sainz is 446 short of our 900-minute qualifying floor, so he does not appear on the ranking boards: on a sample this size two good afternoons move a per-90 number further than a month of steady form.

How these scores are built, and the minutes and rating floors a player must clear to appear on our boards, are set out in our methodology.
