Laporte's 2026/27 season, read from the numbers

In 2026/27, Aymeric Laporte was used in rotation for Athletic Club in the La Liga: 7 appearances and 482 minutes, averaging 69 minutes per outing. He grades out best for match rating — 297th of 905 defenders and inside the top 33%.

Per 90 minutes that is 1.5 tackles per 90, 0.7 interceptions per 90 and 62% of his duels won — the rate profile behind Laporte's totals. Laporte played 412 passes at 94% accuracy — 76.9 per 90, which is the volume that decides whether a side builds through him or around him.

The profile is lopsided rather than complete: measured against defenders, Laporte sits in the top 14% for shot conversion but only the top 63% for goalscoring. Set against Laporte's own record, 2026/27 reads differently: he is playing far less than he once did — 1435 minutes against 4254 at his peak; his average match rating has risen from 6.85 to 7.01 since 2025/26.
