A. Elanga

Elanga's 2026/27 season, read from the numbers

In 2026/27, A. Elanga saw limited action for Newcastle in the Premier League: 3 appearances and 235 minutes, averaging 78 minutes per outing. The number that flatters him most is match rating — 443rd of 702 midfielders and inside the top 63%.

Per 90 minutes that is 1.5 key passes per 90 and 0.0 assists per 90 — the rate profile behind Elanga's totals. The profile is lopsided rather than complete: measured against midfielders, Elanga sits in the top 25% for tackling volume but only the top 71% for shot conversion.

Set against Elanga's own record, 2026/27 reads differently: he has managed 9 in a season before, so 4 is well short of his own mark; he is playing far less than he once did — 573 minutes against 2511 at his peak; his average match rating has risen from 6.57 to 7.25 since 2025/26. Our records cover 7 seasons of Elanga's career, 2020/21 to 2026/27, across 3 clubs — Manchester United, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest. In that time he has played 304 matches across 5 competitions, 15,936 minutes in all.

His best return on our records was 24 assists in 2024/25, from 87 appearances. He is 5 appearances into the current one. Elanga has 18 appearances in UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League on our records, and the gap is real: he is roughly 1.9 times more productive in Europe, 0.18 per 90 domestically against 0.34 in Europe.

Elanga has reached 8 assists in a season 2 times, between 2023/24 and 2024/25 — a level held rather than found once. Away from his club, Elanga has 21 appearances for Sweden on our records, scoring 6 — across World Cup - Qualification Europe, UEFA Nations League and Euro Championship - Qualification.

This is barely a sample: 235 minutes is about 3 full matches, and 665 short of the 900-minute floor our boards require. Every rate above should be read as a hint rather than a finding.

How these scores are built, and the minutes and rating floors a player must clear to appear on our boards, are set out in our methodology.
